Botox Injections

Botox injections consist of a medical grade preparation of a muscle paralysis compound produced by a bacterium.  Previous uses have included injections for muscle spasms as well as placement into muscles controlling the voice box to help correct voice aberrations.

Botox injections are now also used to weaken the fine muscles around the eyes and forehead which are responsible for the frown lines and deep wrinkles that occur in these areas.  By selectively weakening the proper muscles, injections help soften or eliminate wrinkles without disturbing normal function.

Treatment consists of placing very small amounts of Botox directly into a muscle through a tiny needle.  Wrinkling begins to fade or disappear within a few days.
Results are noted for about two to three months, after which time repeat injections are usually necessary.

No systemic side-effects have been noted with Botox injections.  Mild bruising may occur in some areas depending on a patient's predisposition for this.  However, any bruising can usually be covered with make-up and clears rapidly.

Botox treatment may be used alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as skin fillers, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or facelift to achieve optimal results.

Additional information is available regarding Botox injections.  Please call if you feel you may be interested in this exciting, non-invasive cosmetic procedure.
