Breast Augmentation - View Photo Gallery
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure which has proven beneficial for women who wish to increase breast size and/or help achieve breast symmetry. Breast implants placed in our office are composed of a silicone shell filled with a sterile salt-water solution (saline). This type of implant is considered safe and is approved by the FDA specifically for breast augmentation.
The procedure is carried out in our office surgical suite, typically under intravenous anesthesia. There are several areas where incisions can be placed, however the most common is in the fold underneath each breast. The scar in this area is usually very acceptable. Most implants are positioned beneath the chest muscle to allow additional tissue to cover the implant and help reduce the risk of skin wrinkling.
Various implant sizes are available from the manufacturer. We will be happy to assist you in selecting the proper implants which will best fit your frame.
Patients do experience some discomfort and swelling after breast augmentation. However, this is usually limited to a few days and well managed with local measures and pain medication. Most patients are back to a normal routine within 1-2 weeks. We have available and recommend wearing a comfortable support bra for approximately 2 weeks after your surgery. A support bra of choice after this time is a good idea, especially during activities such as |

excercise. A daily multivitamin inclusive of the minimum daily requirement of vitamin C as well as a topical vitamin E cream or oil on the scars is beneficial for healing in the first 2 months after your surgery.
Most implants which we currently place require daily displacement exercises usually performed while showering. This helps decrease the risk of contracted scar tissue forming around the implants which, though rare, can potentiallly cause pain and/or breast distortion.
Breast implants have proven to be very safe and beneficial for many of our patients. Please contact our office if you feel breast augmentation is right for you.
