Fat Transplantation - View Photo Gallery
Fat has proven to be very useful as a filler substance in addressing skin lines, depressed acne scars, and hollow facial areas. Fat can be harvested from nearly any body area, but most commonly is taken from the abdomen, hips, thighs or buttocks. This harvesting procedure and the initial fat injections are typically carried out under intravenous anesthesia for patient comfort.
Fat can be stored in a temperature controlled freezer for up to six months, during which time it can be easily thawed and additional injections performed as needed. The amount of fat retained with each injection ranges from approximately 20-50%, but this retained amount adds up with each treatment and can be considered as having a long-term effect. Fat has no allergic or rejection phenomenon associated with it, and is considered quite safe.
